GROUP PROJECT
Game of Clues (DUE 4/16)
Your group will be creating a "Game of Clues" where another group must guess the topic you chose by using Aurasma to scan your AR clues.
- Decide on a category/topic with your group: The topic can be a historical person or event, a poem, a character from a classic novel, an environmental issue - any topic your group wants, as long as it is educational in nature, the clues are somewhat challenging, and the audience learns something about your topic.
- Break down the topic you decide on into clues (3 per member). (For instance, if you choose Heathcliff, your clues can be an image of the Moors, an unlabeled portrait of Emily Bronte, an audio clip of passages from the novel, a video clip, etc.) Try to use different media (mix of video, image, 3D animation, iphone uploads, etc.).
- Think of a logo/pattern that is in everyone's house, that's easy to recognize, or has easy access to (Kleenex logo, Star Advertiser logo, UH logo, money, etc.)
- Using Aurasma, link each logo to a clue about the topic. (If a member doesn't have a smartphone/mobile device, the group can decide what the member can do for participation).
- Share the link to each clue through your mobile Twitter app from your mobile device. Make sure to label your tweets for each clue: GroupName:Clue#1:logo. ie. TeamSilver:Clue#1:CocaColaLogo. Be sure to tag it with "#647sp"
- Also for the purpose of having a deliverable, attach images of your logos and links to the clues (copy and paste from Twitter) under your group section on the "Week 5 Assignment" page. Although the Clue links MUST be clicked from a mobile device for Aurasma to activate (important!).
- For your Presentation in our last Bb Collaborate session, your peers will try to guess your topic.
- One member for each group will post the clues in the Week 5 Assignment.
- Individual Peer Reviews are due for each group, review should be substantive and helpful. Use the rubric at the bottom of this page.
- Example Project: Use Aurasma to scan the images below for simple examples of linked clues. (Can you guess the historical figure?)
Final Presentation
Your group will be giving a Final Project Presentation in Bb Collaborate. Each group will have 15 minutes to describe the process and tools in which they collaborated, why they chose their topic, a walk through of their project, and their thoughts about Aurasma and any pros and cons they might have.

AURASMA
What is Aurasma?
"Using the smartphone's camera, GPS, compass, accelerometer and internet connection, the technology combines image recognition and a conceptual understanding of the 3D world to recognize objects and images and seamlessly merge augmented reality actions into the scene. Without the need for barcodes or tags, the app is able to see its surrounding environment and make it fully interactive. "

Users can create, share, view Augmented Reality with Aurasma.
When you see an ad or magazine spread with the A icon in the corner, it means it is tagged with an Aura (little bits of AR data). You can also subscribe to someone's channel and see what they have tagged, an image or a location if they live close to you. You can find a logo for a company that is most likely to be in everyone's houses (like the Coke, or Windows/MAC logo) and tag a video, image, audio, or 3D image yourself and share your message with everyone.
Available for iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPad 2, and Android.
